THE LOVE I WANT
longingsoft lovegrowth
The love I want says,
“You don’t have to be strong right now.
I’ve got you.”
A love that offers soft arms to lean on—
and knows I’ll do the same.
Because the love I want isn’t selfish;
it’s mutual.
It’s two people watering each other
in a world that teaches us to survive on droughts.
I want a love where we become safe places for each other
not escapes, but sanctuaries.
Where we call each other out,
not to wound, but to wake.
Where we apologize,
even when pride makes our tongues heavy.
A love where we laugh in grocery stores,
cry in kitchens,
and build a life from the ordinary.
Because the love I want
isn’t always loud,
but it is always real.
A love that doesn’t just say “I love you,”
but proves it
in presence,
in patience,
in partnership.
That is the love I want.
